Ana Paula Lopes
AT FIRST, WE WERE ALL WOMEN FOR WE ARE MANY
The Parque Lage School of Visual Arts,
June 12th, 2019
Directed by Ana Paula and conceived by Beatriz Brandão, Rebeca Banus and Piera Pillar
The performance piece detailed the violence women face in Brazil, performed by sexual assault survivors, inspired by Marielle’s murder. Anna Says “ as a black woman that came from Maré slum, married to another woman she was making so much noise. As a woman, teacher, and artist I felt how important it would be, not to be afraid and support my students not to be afraid.” The work represents oppression and suffering, but also all the support for women, as we are one.
