Nana Moraes

Nana Moraes, is a photographer, in Rio de Janeiro with a career spanning 30 years. She graduated with a degree in journalism from PUC São Paulo. She has worked for the editorial, cultural, and advertising markets, and today, she runs the Portrait Espaço Cultural.
 
In 1997, she held a solo exhibition, "Woman, Ink and Photography" at the Laura Alvin Culture Center. She has since participated in several group exhibitions, notably, “A Imagem do Som da MPB” (2006) and “A Imagem do Som do Samba” (2008), at Paço Imperial and “Eternal Feminine Plural”, at the International Labor Organization, in Geneva (2011). In 2018 she exhibited "Absence" at the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation at ABRASCO in 2018 and participated in the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

 

She was the winner of the Abril Journalism Award six times - the last in 2010 - and was awarded by the Brazilian Advertising Association as a “Professional Highlight / Photography” in 2007 and 2011. In 2019 she received the Jorge Careli Human Rights Medal, in its 16th edition promoted by the Fiocruz Workers Union (Asfoc-SN).
