About
Simone Rodrigues is a photographer, researcher, and photography teacher. She received her bachelor's degree in History from UFRJ in 1992 and has a Masters in Social History of Culture (PUC-Rio, 1997), with a focus on Modern Photography in Brazil. She has worked as a commercial and studio photographer, specializing in theater and portraits of personalities and artists.
In addition to two solo exhibitions, she participated in several collective exhibitions in Brazil and abroad. Since 2008, she has been the editorial director of NAU Editora and a professor of photography at the School of Visual Arts at Parque Lage, in Rio de Janeiro. At the same time, she dedicates herself to authorial and research projects in art and photography.
Nomes do Amor – O amor que ousa dizer seu nome, is a series of portraits of LGBT couples who have lived together - married or in a stable relationship - for more than two years. The project was conceived and has been developed by photographer Simone Rodrigues in 2014. In 2015 the project was sponsored by the Program for the Promotion of Culture in Rio, by the Municipal Department of Culture (LGBT Action line), .
